Orpin is great cardigan for in-between seasons, adorned with beautiful lace pockets.

It is worked top-down, using a raglan construction, back and forth for the body and in the round for the sleeves. The pockets and pocket linings are knit at the same time as the body, then the sides are sewn closed afterward.

All the finishing touches are done in 1x1 ribbing followed by a faux i-Cord bind-off.

This pattern is graded according to back width for a fitted look, and offers three bust circumference options per size.

Materials

• Yarn: Fingering weight

The prototype was knit using Dr Wool by Arco Iris Yarn (400 m / 100 g, 100% SW merino), colorway Shippû.

=> Yarn quantities on one of the last pictures on the left.

Choose a yarn that creates a drapey but nontransparent fabric, preferably in a semi-solid colorway if you want the lace to stand out. You can also use a 100% non-superwash wool or alpaca for a more airy result. This will require less yardage than indicated.

• Circular needles: 3 mm for most of the body (or size needed to get gauge). 2.5 mm for all ribbed edges unless otherwise noted. A second pair of 3 mm circulars for closing the pockets

• About 10 stitch markers

• Two stitch holders

• 8 buttons (12–15 mm in diameter)

• Tapestry needle and contrasting
thread.

The model shown in the pictures is wearing a size 5 FB2 (+27 cm back, +9 cm sleeves, +38 cm bust).

Gauge

Washed, blocked, and dry: 27 sts x 37 rows = 10 x 10 cm in stockinette stitch, worked back and forth and in the round.

It is important to match gauge to ensure the intended size. Note that the pockets will slightly affect the gauge on the body due to their weight. On the prototype, I had 36 rows instead of 37 at the bottom of the body, which gave me an extra centimeter of
length.

Orpin est un gilet de mi saison paré de magnifiques poches en dentelle.

Il se tricote du haut vers le bas (top-down), selon une construction raglan, en aller-retour pour le corps et en rond pour les manches.

Les poches et fonds de poche sont tricotés en même temps que le corps, puis les côtés sont cousus après coup. Toutes les finitions sont en côtes 1/1 suivies d’un rabat en faux i-Cord.

Ce modèle est gradé selon la mesure dos pour un porté seyant et propose trois possibilités de tour de poitrine par taille.

Matériel :

• Fil : épaisseur fingering

Le prototype a été tricoté avec la base Dr Wool d’Arco Iris Yarn (400 m / 100 gr, 100% mérinos SW), coloris Shippû.

=> Voir les métrages sur l’une des dernières images à gauche.

Privilégiez un fil qui vous donnera un tissu souple mais non transparent,dans un coloris peu varié si vous souhaitez mettre en valeur la dentelle.

Vous pouvez également utiliser un 100% laine non superwash ou de l’alpaga pour obtenir quelque chose de plus vaporeux. Cela vous réclamera moins de métrage qu’indiqué.

• Aiguilles circulaires : 3 mm pour l’essentiel du corps (ou la taille nécessaire pour obtenir l’échantillon). Des 2,5 mm pour toutes les finitions sauf indication contraire.

• Une seconde paire d’aiguilles circulaires 3 mm pour la fermeture des poches.

• Une dizaine de marqueurs.

• Deux arrêtes- mailles.

• 8 boutons (12 à 15 mm de diamètre).

Les mesures du tableau sont en centimètres et représentent les mesures du vêtement fini.

Le modèle porté sur les photos est une T8 FP2 (+2 cm au dos, +1 cm aux manches, +6 cm au TDP, +10 cm aux hanches
avec un ajustement + 9 cm).

Échantillon

Lavé, bloqué et sec : 27 m x 37 rgs, 10 x 10 cm en jersey AR et en rond.

Il est important de respecter l’échantillon pour obtenir la taille attendue. Notez que les poches modifieront légèrement l’échantillon au niveau du corps, de par leur poids. Sur le prototype, j’ai 36 rgs au lieu de 37 au niveau du bas du corps, ce qui me fait gagner un centimètre de longueur.
