Ostara walks through the fields, butterflies and song birds behind her, grasses springing up from her footsteps and flowers blooming at her touch. She is known for bringing the spring to the North and her bunnies love to hide eggs, which we paint for her in all the colors of the rainbow. Celebrate the spring by making some scrappy eggs for hiding and hunting. Add some beans and give them a shake, fill a basket with them or hang them in a garland to honor the new life all around us.

Pattern Notes:
This super beginner crochet pattern is worked in a spiral, first increasing for the pointier part of an egg then decreasing for the rounder bottom. It calls for a magic loop cast on and includes a link to a video if this is new to you, however it also includes alternative instructions if you are not up for learning more new things.

Materials needed:
Yarn: 27-30 yards or 6-7 grams of fingering weight yarn for each egg (this is a great way to use up those odd bits of leftovers or a favorite mini skein!)
Hook: US E, 3.5mm
Notions: darning needle for sewing in ends, opening and closing stitch markers for counting rows and beginning of round, roving or other stuffing OR (this is super cool and kinda my fav ever!!!) a plastic egg like the kind for hiding or that candy comes in in the spring, and beans or stones (if you wanna make a rattle)
Stitches used: single crochet, increase, decrease (optional: chain for alternate beginning)
