All work and no play makes Jack a dull boy, but you’ll be the opposite of dull with these mitts inspired by the unforgettable decor of The Shining.

Pattern includes full colour as well as greyscale charts.

This pattern is for you if… You love a 1970s aesthetics, bold patterns, and keeping your hands warm but not too warm.

Move along if… You hate tacking floats as there are some spots with long gaps between colours, or you’re uncomfortable knitting with three colours at once (though a two-colour chart is provided).

YARN

  • Approx. 117 yards / 25 grams of fingering weight yarn in main colour (brown)
  • Approx. 68 yards / 15 grams of fingering weight yarn in contrast colour 1 (orange)
  • Approx. 29 yards / 6 grams of fingering weight yarn in contrast colour 2 (red)

NEEDLES & NOTIONS

  • US 3/3.25mm double pointed needles, or size necessary to obtain gauge
  • 2 stitch markers
  • waste yarn for holding thumb stitches
  • tapestry needle for weaving in ends

SIZE

  • one size; comfortably fits a hand with a 7.5”/19cm palm circumference
  • finished dimensions: 8”/20.5cm in length
