With more and more communities banning single use plastic bags, this eco friendly, reusable bag is perfect for your next trip to the grocery store or visit to your local farmers’ market. The Bag features a tightly knit, flat bottom with expandable lace mesh sides and a single handle sized to comfortably slip over your shoulder.

You’ll enjoy making and using this market bag. And since it is a quick, fairly easy knit you’ll want to make several for gifts.

The needle size for the base depends on your yarn choice. Use a 10.5 for either Aran weight or DK weight held doubled. Before the lace mesh section, you can stop the doubled yarn, or for a variegated look, continue with one strand each of the Aran and DK weights. Use the same color, contrasting colors or complimentary colors. Another option given is working the lace section in a stripped pattern.

Techniques include Judy’s Magic Cast-on, knitting in the round, knit, purl, knit two together, yarn over, and decreasing bind off.

The cotton/linen blend yarn is fun to knit with and washes nicely in the washer on cold.
