Patchwork Cardigan and Mascot
The Patchwork Cardigan and Matching Mascot are designed for a baby aged from 3 to 6 months.
The Cardigan is made by making granny squares, which are sewn together to create a patchwork effect. A border and button band are then added.
The Mascot is also made using the same granny square pattern to make the squares for the head, with smaller squares for the feet. Even though it is a softee toy, it will stand upright. It is 5” tall.
The project uses Double Knit yarn and a 4mm hook throughout.
You will need:
Double Knit yarn – 3x100g ball in 3 colours.
(Shown here in Stylecraft Special DK Mocha, Cream and Parchment)
Hook – 4mm
4x1cm buttons for cardigan
Small amounts of felt in white or cream for the eyes and mouth, and dark brown for the eyes
Stuffing for the Mascot
Glue, darning needle and scissors
Swatch/guage: make 1 square. It should measure 2 1/2 inches by 2 1/2 inches.
Skill: You will need to know how to do a magic circle, how to make cords (for the arms on the mascot), and some sewing skills.
