Ivan Grundahl designed a summer sweater I could not take my eyes off. I found my yarn while visiting Borg, a tightly twisted cotton yarn with a weight intended for weavers, available on large cones. Ideal for my purpose, except the thickness so I decided to double it up. I can warmly recommend a day trip to Borg in Vittsjö, southern Sweden from Copenhagen. It was worth the trip all the way from London.

Or another firmly spun 4 ply/fingering yarn held double.

Needles: 4 mm/US 6 circular needle (80 cm/32”).
4 mm/US 6 DPNs for neck band.
Adjust needle size as needed to match gauge.

Notions: Stitch marker, waste yarn and yarn needle.

Gauge: 21 sts and 36 rows in Cartride – Belt Rib with double yarn measures 10 cm/4” square.

Notes:
The sweater is worked flat in pieces, except for the neck band which is worked in the round. The back and front are identical with dropped shoulders bound off on 3 needles with a visible joint. The sleeves are narrow to minimize the overall look of the oversized sweater. Knit the sleeves first to learn the pattern. The cowl is cast on with a provisional method in order to graft the ends together.
