In Ukrainian “Pavychi” means peacocks. The main pattern resembles peacock feathers, and the double-pieced of the apron creates a plural in its name. Hence, the name originates from this.

The “Peacocks” apron consists of two parts that can be worn separately if desired.
Inspired by the Ukrainian national clothing element, “plakhta,” combined with a pattern resembling peacock feathers, it can be styled with modern dresses and wide-leg pants and jumpsuits. The apron can be worn with a long embroidered shirt for a more authentic look.

SIZE
The apron pattern is presented in one universal size, suitable for standard women’s sizes
S-L with a waist circumference of 27 - 30 inches (68 - 76 cm).

YARN

  • Main color (MC) - 1 skein of Avanti Yarn - Fluffy Alpaca 100g / 330m (20% alpaca, 10% merino, 35% nylon, 35% acrylic), color 001 white;
  • Contrast color (CC) - 1 skein of Avanti Yarn - Fantasy Rainbow 100g / 330m (20% alpaca, 10% merino, 35% nylon, 35% acrylic), color 0103 pink-purple gradient.

GAUGE
Before starting, it is recommended to make a gauge swatch to ensure your tension matches the author’s gauge.
14 stitches x 6 rows = 44 inches in a double crochet (dc) swatch with a J-10 (6 mm) crochet hook. Since the accessory does not require strict adherence to dimensions, a slight deviation from the gauge is acceptable.

CROCHET HOOK AND NOTIONS

  • J-10 (6 mm) crochet hook, or a hook of another size that matches the author’s gauge;
  • Removable stitch markers;
  • Tapestry needle for weaving in ends;
  • Scissors.

CONSTRUCTION
The apron consists of two rectangular panels of different lengths and heights, which are layered on top of each other and connected with a crocheted cord.

The main part and edging of the lower apron panel are crocheted entirely in MC, while the main part of the upper panel is done in CC, and the edging in MC.

Crocheting begins with the lower panel. The upper panel is crocheted similarly to the lower panel, but with fewer pattern repeats. The cord for connecting the panels consists of two chains of chain stitches, decorated with popcorn stitches. Both chains are joined with knots at the specified locations on both ends.

DIFFICULTY
Medium. Working on the apron requires skills in working with crochet charts.
