I remember my childhood summers in my great aunt’s house. She had all the windowsills full of pelargoniums. Red and pink, always full of flowers.
When I came to Italy, I discovered my mother-in-law loves this same flower. Living in a different climate, she has lots of pots outdoors, and the extremely pink pelargoniums bloom from July to late August in front of the house. I never saw the fascination with this flower, and I remember from childhood that I strongly disliked its odor. But here we are again, with the summers full of these flowers.

Pelargonio shawl is inspired by the colors of the bright pink flowers in bloom. Knitting begins at the top edge with the garter tab cast on. Increases are worked in the garter stitch sections.

One size, wingspan 124 cm / 49”, depth 55 cm / 21.75”

Needles
3.5 mm (US 4) - 100 cm / 40” circular needles, or as required to obtain gauge.

Yarn requirements
Decida MerinoSilk 80/20 (80 % Merino wool, 20 % silk, 360 m / 100 g)
MC: 1 skein or 355 m / 390 yds of fingering weight yarn.

Gauge
24 sts x 28 rows = 10 cm /4” in Pelargonio lace after blocking.

Techniques used
Knitting flat, basic lace on RS only. The pattern uses Turkish CO for the Garter tab, feel free to work the Garter tab CO in your preferred way.
