While the pattern is written out for light DK/Sport weight yarn and roughly 33x23 in size, this is an adaptive pattern which means you are given a stitch group/pattern that you work as many times as needed to reach the size of blanket you want.

So, any yarn weight and corresponding hook size can be used, as long as you keep the stitch group together and multiply it to the desired size. This gives you an endless size range possible to make!!
