Everything started out with Penny’s Garden Hat. I loved working on designing with this yarn so much that I decided to create a matching set of fingerless gloves. The yarn was dyed with a main colour, interrupted by a short block of two other colours - one highlight colour and one more subtle colour.

I wanted to create a fingerless gloves pattern that could be used with a planned pooling yarn (like the one in the photos), but also a pattern where it would be relatively easy to substitute different yarn weights and fibre content.

I have even used this pattern (without the “special stitch”) with a solid colour luxury yarn (qiviut) and achieved an excellent result.
