  • You can use any yarn weight and hook size of your choosing. You do not need to match my gauge!
  • It can be custom-made to fit every and any body type and size! (It can even be made into kid’s and toddler’s sizes, as one of the pattern testers made!)

WHAT THIS PATTERN INCLUDES

  • A Tester Lookbook, complete with finished projects by testers of different body sizes and shapes. This includes details like: their measurements for the shrug, the yarn they used and yardage, hook used, etc.
  • Step-by-step guide on measuring yourself and making your perfect fit
  • Sizing guidelines are provided for people who generally wear sizes XS to XXXL from stores
  • Options with diagrams and descriptions for customisation and/or adjustments (sleeve length, fit, colours, etc.)
  • Written instructions AND diagrams of how to crochet all the stitches used in the pattern
  • Written instructions AND diagrams for 2 different neckline and border options
  • Detailed photographs to help you follow the pattern steps

SKILLS NEEDED (US terminology)

  • reading simple crochet instructions (either written instructions or in a diagram, both are provided)
  • be able to make chains, single crochet, double crochet, half double crochet, half double crochet two together and slip stitch
  • seam panels together by the method of your choice
  • seam in ends

MATERIALS NEEDED:

  • A hook size of your choosing
  • A hook size in one size smaller (0.5 mm smaller)
  • Measuring tape (to take body measurements)
  • Darning needle
  • 2 buttons for the sleeves (optional)
  • Enough yarn to finish (see below)

YARDAGE GUIDE

  • The shrug in the first few pictures (cream and pink) was made using merino/nylon sock fingering yarn (366 m/100g). I used a total of 550 m (150 g). My upper arm circumference is 26cm, and my sleeve to sleeve length is 104 cm. I am 150 cm tall (4′11″) and generally wear size XS to S in stores.
  • In general, using fingering weight yarn, this is the yardage recommended for people generally wearing sizes: XXS at least 500 m, XS at least 550 m, S at least 650 m, M at least 750 m, L at least 850 m, XL at least 1000 m, XXL at least 1100 m, XXXL at least 1250 m
