Inspired by the flowerbeds filled with pansies in the parks in Lugano, Switzerland, I fell in love with their bright colours and the amazing colour combinations and wanted to create a sock pattern that captured their beauty. The Perfect Pansy socks is a fun sock pattern with simple and pretty colourwork sections which can be knit in any of your favourite colour combinations (and is perfect for using up sock yarn leftovers).

These socks are knit from the cuff down with a 1 x 1 ribbed cuff, an “eye of partridge” heel flap and gusset heel and have a stranded colourwork section on the leg and on the foot just before the toe decreases. This pattern uses the magic loop circular needle method (but can be knit with dpns).

Sizes
Foot circumference:
Size 1: 17-19cm / 7”
Size 2: 19.5-22.5cm / 8.5”
Size 3: 23-25.5cm / 9.5”
Further sizes can be achieved by going up or down needle sizes.
Leg/Foot length can be easily adjustable.

Gauge
For colourwork - needle size 2.5mm / US 1.5 34 x 38 rnds = 10cm / 4 inches
For stockinette – needle size 2.5mm / US 1.5 32 x 36 rnds = 10cm / 4 inches
Or whatever needle size obtains this gauge.
