The Petal Loop Crochet Beanie is worked flat, from side to side, so the whole hat starts life as a simple rectangle. The Petal Loop Stitch builds rows of soft little petals across the body, and the ribbed brim forms right alongside it in the very same row. Join the edges, cinch the crown closed with your tail, and top it with a faux fur pom pom if you like a little extra.

It comes in eight sizes from Newborn to Adult Large, with a regular brim or a taller fold-up brim, so you can make one for everybody on your list.

✨ What makes it work

• Worked flat. It’s a rectangle first and a hat second, with no rounds to count.
• Petals and ribbing in one row. The brim builds as you go, so there’s nothing to add at the end.
• Two ways to join. Seam it as you crochet the last row, or slip stitch it closed afterward.
• Two brim styles. A regular brim, or a fold-up brim for extra warmth over the ears.
• Eight sizes. Newborn all the way to Adult Large.
• You’re not on your own. Video tutorial, stitch chart, schematic, and care tips included.
