Pickle Bag
by S. Denny
Handmade quirk with a crunchy twist.
Materials needed:
* G & F hooks
NOTE: That if you use thicker yarn, you can adjust hook size.
* Yarn #4worsted weight. Will use less than a typical skein size.
If you use thicker yarn, you will need more yarn, please keep this in mind.
NOTE: if your yarn is a thin size #4, you’ll want to double up your yarn and crochet with 2 strands.
- Sewing Needle to sew ends, bag straps, etc.
- Stitch Markers to mark your first stitch in each row. I get interrupted by life too much to not use markers and that’s OK!
- Scissors. gotta chop that yarn somehow. 1: two holed Button. This will be for the drawstring, it will help keep it closed.
- If you prefer not to add a button, make drawstring long in order to tie to keep closed while cinched.
Optional:
- Bought straps, if you don’t want to make them. If you choose this, make sure to get all the hardware needed, such as D Rings, clips, etc.
- If you want to add a face to your pickle, think about eye size and how to attach them: felt, safety or embroidery.
- Extra yarn if you intend to make a face or add other inclusions.
- Stitch counter- If you don’t already have one, it’s a real investment. But not needed.
- Fabric for lining, adding this you’ll need: sewing needle and thread. Fabric size: I used less than a fat quarter. Can sew by hand or with sewing machine.
Approximate size: 12” long, 7” across.
There is no specific recommended gauge, it won’t be needed for this pattern.
