Picnic Sweater
About this pattern: This simple pattern is a great beginner pattern for people wanting to experiment with colorwork and texture knitting. I love to wear this oversized sweater in the summer months on windy days or chilly nights.
Construction: This is a top-down drop shoulder sweater. You will start by knitting the back of your sweater and casting on stitches for the shoulder. A helpful tip is to get two removable stitch markers (I used the light bulb ones) and after casting on the initial stitches for the back, insert
the removable stitch markers into the first and last stitch. This will help indicate where to start to pick up or sew the stitches for the shoulders. After you have completed the back, you will start the front shoulders, either by knitting them individually and sewing them to the back, or using
German Short Rows by picking up the stitches along the shoulder and knitting. You will then join the round and knit until you finish the body. For the sleeves, you will pick up the stitches along the armhole and knit according to the pattern.
Fit: Positive ease of 10 inches (25.4 cm) making this sweater an oversized fit. If you would like the sweater to be more fitted, I would suggest sizing down a size.
