Piebald is a sock featuring a cozy half-twisted rib, colourwork leg and toe detailing, and a short-row heel.
They are the perfect stash - or scrap - buster sock, with each row of feathers taking very little yarn.
Knit them in as many colours as you like, or keep them in a strict colour scheme.

They come in four sizes, 48, 56, 64 and 72 stitches, but the pattern is over 8 stitches, and thus, the socks are easy to both decrease and increase in size so long as your number of stitches is divisible by 8.

You will need about 50g of your main colour, and small amounts of contrast (5-10g if you’re using all different colours, and up to 50g if you’re just using two to three.)
The pattern is written on 2mm needles, but you can of course use 2.5 (or you needle size of choice). Bear in mind this may affect yardage.

Piebald was designed with pied pigeons in mind. After a day of dying yarn, the result of a specific skein was a blue-green and pink, overcast with a dusty grey, which brought to mind the feathers of a pigeon.
A stash dive later, and the purple, white and grey completed the colour scheme, and the Piebald Sock was born.
