Inspired by the abstract paintings of Piet Mondrian, the Piet Wrap features a geometric composition of squares, rectangles, and linear elements that are knitted using basic intarsia techniques, beading, and easy lace stitches. This oversized, yet airy, translucent, and ephemeral shawl can be draped and styled in numerous ways.

The Piet Wrap is knitted flat with seven different colors of yarn that are joined using basic intarsia techniques. A schematic is included at the end of the pattern that details the layout of the different colors. While I used skeins of Cascade Yarns Alpaca Lace, any other lace weight yarn can be substituted and is appropriate for this project. Below are the specific details of how much of each color of yarn is used in this pattern. The finished and blocked shawl measures 26 x 74”.
