Pin-Striped Fingerless Mitts
A colorful & easy pair of striped fingerless mitts to knit, without having to cut yarn from beginning to end. Pattern is one-size, in DK weight, with suggestions of how to make bigger or smaller with different weights of yarn. Excellent beginner level knitting project in stockinette stitch, using two colors, single or double rib edging, and simple increases. Combine different colors, variegations & textures to make attractive & super fun!
Yarn: You will need about 25g of two colors, a Main Color (MC) and a Contrast Color (CC).
Substitute sport or worsted-weight yarn, in any fiber content, and needles accordingly, for bigger or smaller pair of mitts.
Gauge: 6 stitches and 10 rows = 1 inch
Needles: US 4 - 3.50mm , or size to get gauge.
Measures: 6.5 - 7” circumference at palm, 8 - 9 “ length.
Size: One size to fit womens medium / mens small. For smaller mitts, use finer yarn and smaller needles to get 6.5-7 sts = 1”. For larger, use thicker yarn and larger needles to get 5-5.5 sts = 1”.
Or try an EASY one-skein project with self-striping yarn, a great example on this project HERE
Modifications for Worsted-Weight women’s medium:
1. Gauge:5.5st =1inch, needles recommended size US 5-3.75mm (rib with size smaller). 2. Cast on 40 sts size instead of 44 3.Work rib and wrist to length desired.
4.Work gusset to 14 sts instead of 16. 5.Work upper hand length for approx 8 rounds or as length is desired
