Pinecone socks are traditionally constructed cuff-down, flap-heel, wedge-toe socks with a lace pattern that looks intricate but is easy to knit. They’re interesting enough to keep you knitting, but simple enough that the pattern repeat is easy to memorize.

This is my favorite kind of sock to knit, but it wouldn’t be difficult to adapt this pattern to your favorite sock construction. Change out the heel, make a different toe, knit a different ribbing, even make them toe-up – the lace pattern will look nearly the same upside down!

The pattern is charted and written.
