There is something quietly magical about a pinecone.

Whether you’re the kind of person who can walk past one without a second glance (genuinely, how?), or the kind who absolutely cannot leave it on the ground where it belongs — this motif is for you. Designed to capture the very essence of an autumn woodland walk, the Pinecones motif brings a little bit of that seasonal magic into your crochet.

The Pinecones motif is one of 13 compatible designs created for the Four Seasons Mix-and-Match MAL — a collaborative event bringing together six designers and a collection of overlay mosaic motifs for you to mix, match, and arrange into something completely your own. All motifs use a 48-stitch repeat and are fully compatible with each other, so you can combine as many or as few as you like.

This pattern includes:

• Written and graphical instructions
• Both UK and US crochet terms
• A large print option

Suitable for advanced beginners and above — there are no mid-row colour changes and no slanted stitches.

Yarn requirements (based on one single-sided repeat, without a border, using DK-weight yarn):

Colour A — white, approx. 44m / 48 yds
Colour B — grey, approx. 38m / 42 yds

Yarn weight and hook size will vary depending on your chosen project — this motif is designed to work with whatever you have in mind!
