When the weather is warm, I use to knit outside. The other day I was on the veranda, weaving in all ends of this sweater, trying at the same time to find a name for it. I spotted suddenly a chaffinch on the cherry tree, coming from the park beside. It looked happy and curious, hopping from one branch to the other. After a while, it flew back toward the park. It was so cute that I decided to name my sweater Pinson, the French name for chaffinch.

Pinson is worked seamlessly in the round and in stockinette from bottom to underarm. The sleeves are worked apart and then body and sleeves are joined in a yoke. The yoke is worked back and forth to create a back opening. After some raglan decrease, a large neckband is worked in lace. The neckline is neatly finished with I-cord.

Pinson is offered in six sizes from XS to XXL. The pattern is designed with 1¼ in (3 cm) ease at bust and 2½ in (6 cm) ease at hip. It is a neat fit. For a more relaxed fit, take one size up.
