The stitch pattern featured on this beanie was inspired by the branches of the pinyon pine tree. The rich green of the pinyon pine’s needles are a sharp contrast to the desert southwest that they are found in. I wanted to keep that crisp contrast in the design and cables served that purpose best. If you’re not too keen on cables, I would recommend trying my Control Freak Cabling Without a Cable Needle (https://youtu.be/AT8lbohPVHA). It makes cabling far less painful and you don’t have to hassle with losing that annoying little cable needle. Give it a shot!

Sizes: Baby (Toddler, Child, Average Adult, Large Adult) for a finished circumference of 14” (16”, 18”, 20”, 22”)/35.5 (40.5, 45.5, 51, 56) cm.

Yarn: 125 – 225 yards/115 – 205 meters of worsted weight yarn. Sample shown in Anzula For Better or Worsted colorway Country Green.

Needles: Size US 6/4 mm and US 7/4.5 mm circular needles or double-point needles, whichever method is preferred for working in the round, or size needed to obtain gauge and 1 size smaller.

Gauge: 18 - 20 stitches and 26 – 28 rows = 4”/10 cm in Stockinette stitch.

Notions: 8 – 12 stitch markers, tapestry needle, and a faux fur pompom (optional).
