A collaboration with Hey Mama Wolf Yarns and Moeke Yarns for the MY Make Along 2019! Pippy Park is a sleeveless and asymmetrical layering top. The stranded colourwork is knit in the round and steeked; the striped and textured portion is knit sideways and flat. The essence of the sweater derives from Pippi Longstocking (a fictional character) and Pippy Park (Canada’s largest provincial park in an urban setting and is well known for its many recreational activities). The zig zag texture pattern embodies the popular snowshoeing trails in Pippy Park.

Yarn kits from Hey Mama Wolf will be available for pre-order starting Friday 20 September 2019 here: Hey Mama Wolf Yarns

Needles and Notions:

Gauge was achieved with the following needle sizes:

Size A: 3.25mm (US 3) Zig Zag stitch pattern
Size B: 3.5mm (US 4) single colour stockinette
Size C: 4mm (US 6) stranded colourwork

You may or may not require the same needle sizes. Please swatch and block to determine your needle sizes.

You will also need:

Darning needle (I love cross stitch needles for this!) and sturdy lace or sock yarn for reinforcing steeks (or a sewing machine or a crochet hook), tapestry needle for sewing seams, stitch markers and removable markers; grosgrain ribbon and needle and thread for finishing the steeks if desired; scrap yarn or spare needles or interchangeable cables to hold stitches

Techniques

Stranded colourwork in the round
Steeking
Double stitch short rows (a.k.a German short rows)
i-cord edges
Sewing seams (you could also do this using 3 needle bind-off, if preferred)
