As a person who loves all things plaid, I needed a pair of plaid socks!

The sock is worked cuff-down in a stranded colourwork pattern with no long floats, and it has a 2-colour Eye of Partridge heel flap (believe it or not) and a gusset on the sole. There is a little bit of stranded purling on the heel turn. If you prefer toe-up or a different heel, it should be quite easy to adapt the pattern accordingly, but do so at your own discretion.

Four sizes are provided: XS (S, M, L), with 50 (60, 70, 80) stitches per round, which will fit feet with a circumference of 6.5” (7.75”, 9.25”, 10.5”). At the suggested gauge of 8.5 spi, the XS is a child size, but it is also possible to use a DK weight yarn at a gauge of 6 spi to make an adult medium size sock. Those of you who like thick socks might find this information useful!

Instructions are written, and the colourwork pattern is charted. You may use any technique/needles you prefer for knitting a tube in the round.

The pattern assumes that you are familiar with basic sock knitting concepts, cuff-down sock construction, and stranded colourwork. I do not recommend this pattern if you have never knit a sock before, but I do think it is appropriate for those who are new to stranded socks, as there are no long floats to catch.

The pattern has been tested in all sizes.
