I wanted to create a new pattern for a baby blanket, but ended up making a pattern for a washcloth! I didn’t want to write one that would be too complicated, or difficult for anyone to make. I came up with this pattern because I like blankets and afghans that have squares, because they remind me of the Granny Squares afghans my paternal grandmother used to make. This pattern uses the following stitches: knit (K), purl (P), knit through the back loop (Ktbl), yarn over (YO), slip one stitch as if to purl (Sl1), and pass the slipped stitch over (PSSO). It really is easy enough for a beginner to make.

NOTE: When you are passing the slipped stitch over (PSSO), you will be passing it over the one knitted stitch and the yarn over (YO).

I will post the pattern for the blanket soon – as soon as I get a sample knitted!
