PLUM TOMATOES KNITTING PATTERN

The latest addition to my box of vegetables is a pair of plump plum tomatoes.

Botanically tomatoes are a fruit, but they are usually considered a vegetable in cookery. Knitted veggies make super toys to encourage little ones to eat veg and greens, or you can use them as decorative items in your home.

I have been working on a box of different vegetables, and if you are new to making knitted toys these make an easy introduction to the craft as they don’t have lots of pieces to sew together. My knitted veggies are worked flat on straight knitting needles, but most pieces could easily be converted to knitting in the round if that is your preference.

PATTERN INFO:

  • The finished tomato is approximately 5.5cm tall (not including leaves).
  • The pattern is 3 pages and written in English only.
  • You will need to know how to cast on and off, knit, purl, work increases and decreases, and sew a seam.

YOU WILL ALSO NEED:

  • A pair of straight 2.75mm knitting needles (US 2)
  • DK yarn (double knitting or light worsted weight)
  • A few handfuls of toy filling
  • Toy safety eyes

Pattern for personal use only; not for resale
