This granny square pattern was inspired by so many happy moments of connection, creativity and laughter at the Crochet Guild Australia Conference in Sydney, June 2023.

Keep an eye out for more Pockets of Joy from Dedri Uys of Look At What I Made, Susannah Kate of Peppergoose and Shelley of Shelley Husband Crochet as many of these joyous moments were from time spent together getting to know each other!

Project Options

This pattern offers different options for your final project:

  1. Working each part in one and the same colour only (MC version) 2. Working with several colours: a. Flower pod in 1 colour and square part in 2 colours b. Flower pod in 2 (or more) colours and square part in 1 colour c. Flower pod in 2 (or more) colours and square part in 2 colours The choices are endless, and they are all yours ;-)

What you will need:
Yarn - depending on your project; I used:
8 - 11g/27 - 38m; 30 - 41yds per square of 4ply/fingering Cotton yarn (50g/170m - 1.75oz/186yds) for the featured squares with a 3mm - US C/2 - D/3; UK 11 hook;
meterage/yardage depends on flower pod variation

Instructions for the square part include indicators for working with multiple colours referring to this colour scheme:
➢ MC - Main Colour - off white - Square
➢ CC1 - Contrast Colour 1 - (variegated) red/pink - Flower
➢ CC2 - Contrast Colour 2 - (variegated) green - Leaves

You will also need scissors, tapestry needle to weave in ends, 1 stitch marker to mark the beginning of the round, several if you want to use them for marking front loops (alternatively, use yarn scraps or paper clips)
