A chunky ribbed hat with a stretchy cast-on edge, worked in the round in 1×1 rib.
Sizes: S/M (L/XL), to fit a head circumference of 54–58 (58–64) cm / 21¼–22¾ (22¾–25¼) in.
Finished measurements: Hat width, laid flat: approximately 24–25 (27–28) cm / 9½–9¾ (10½–11) in. Length before crown decreases: 33 (35) cm / 13 (13¾) in. Total length: 34 (36) cm / 13½ (14¼) in.
Gauge after washing and blocking: 9 stitches = 10 cm / 4 in in 1×1 rib, measured unstretched.
Yarn: DROPS Polaris, 100 g = 36 m / 39 yd. 3 balls for all sizes, held single. Total: 108 m / 118 yd. If using multiple colours, divide the 3 balls between them as desired.
Alternative yarn: BBB Merina Maxi, 100 g = 60 m / 66 yd; 3 (4) balls, held double.
Needles and notions: 10 mm (US 15) circular needles with a cable at least 45 cm / 18 in long. If you knit tightly, you may need 12 mm (US 17) needles to achieve gauge. You will also need a large stitch marker, scissors, a measuring tape, and a tapestry needle or crochet hook for weaving in ends.
