These short, sweet socks are perfect for the moderate weather of the temperate coast, or any time you don’t need a longer sock. They are quick to make and involve almost no purling. They can be easily adjusted to fit any foot size, customized to fit like a glove, and are very comfortable and squishy. Their short top never sags and they stay put nicely.

The Port Gamble Socks feature a garter stitch heel flap, short row heel turn, and instep gusset.

These socks are perfect for striped yarns, speckles, or solids. The garter heel breaks up crazy variegations. They are also reversible, if you knit them all in one color or just weave your ends in carefully: the garter stitch inside is just as cute as the knit stitch outside!

To work in different colors, try knitting the ribbing, or the heel flap, or toes, or all of the above, in a different colored yarn. Be creative! Have fun!

You will need a 2.75mm or 3mm set of dpns and about half a regular skein of sock yarn!
