Vast white slopes under the clear winter sky, a couple of skiers carving traces into fresh powder snow: that’s the scene evoked by the textured design of Powder Snow Hat. This design, featuring bold cables and a texture reminiscent of ice crystals, is ideally suited to show off a variegated yarn.

Powder Snow Hat is shaped as a slouchy beanie with a gathered crown, written for one size but easy to customise for a few centimetres more or less in circumference. It can readily be shortened for a less slouchy fit.

Skills required: Casting on with a tubular cast-on (or other stretchy method), knitting and purling in the round, working yarn overs, increasing and decreasing stitches, and cabling with a cable needle.
The pattern includes both written and charted instructions, which can be used independently.
