I created the pattern on the plane ride from Georgia to California and my oldest wore it for the first time as we went to pick up some holiday gifts at Powderhouse, North Lake Tahoe. Hence, the Powderhouse Beanie!

Originally designed to be used with my friend’s alpaca-blend worsted weight yarn from Four Arches Farms in Pembroke, GA, but on Ravelry I am recommending Malabrigo worsted weight yarn because it’s easier to come by. I knit one bright red Powderhouse Beanie with Malabrigo worsted weight yarn, and it has been a favorite around the house.

The drape of the beanie is casual and roomy but still fitted and stylish. One of my daughters has a lot of thick, curly hair and she has never wanted to wear a beanie before this one.

I also love that it knits up quickly and the decreases are very simple.
