These socks feature a colourwork motif inspired by the King Protea, the national flower of South Africa, where I live. Its always a treat to see one of these flowers in bloom when out hiking.

The design is worked cuff-down with a German Twisted Cast On, half twisted rib and a slip-stitch heel flap and gusset. The colourwork section uses three colours: a main colour and two contrasts to highlight the petals and leaves. In the sample socks, I used roughly 60g of the white, and less than 10g of pink and green.

The pattern is simple and approachable, with clear structure and a comfortable fit. A great project if you enjoy stranded knitting and bold, graphic floral designs.
