Puff the magic dragonfly lived far away,
And knit himself some fancy socks
To pass the time away.
But dragonflies have six feet,
and it took a long, long time,
So when you knit your second sock
You really musn’t whine!

Puff’s socks are knit toe-up have lots of negative ease (stretch) due to ribbing both front and back, which will ensure a nice snug fit. Dragonflies fly up the front and each size has its own unique rib for the back. The gusset heel is worked after a double center gusset increase and doesn’t require an extra needle or picking up stitches.

The pattern is written for magic loop and includes links to videos demonstrating techniques used.

Sizes: Women’s XS(S,M,L) to fit a foot circumference of 7(7.5,8,8.5) inches or 18(19,20.5,21.5) cm. Lots of ribbing gives these socks a lot of stretch. Stitch counts around widest part of foot are 64(68,72,76) sts.

Yarn: 80-100 grams of sock-weight yarn - a solid color or semi-solid is recommended so that the stitch detail shows up best

Gauge: 34 stitches = 4 in/10 cm in stockinette stitch

Needles: one circular needle size US 2/2.75 mm or size needed to obtain gauge, at least 32 inches long for magic loop

Notions: stitch markers, darning needle for weaving in ends
