Pumpkin Spice Pocket Shawl
This cozy pocket shawl is the perfect crochet project for intermediate crocheters as well as the adventurous beginner. The rows of puff stitches make this shawl nice and warm for the chilly fall weather. It’s also great to wear around the house while relaxing in your favorite spot. This PDF pattern includes a 9-page pattern with photo tutorials for the puff stitches as well as the tassels.
Sizing: 57” by 17” or 145 cm by 43 cm (for reference my arm span from fingertip to fingertip is about 63” so the fabric stretches slightly and should accommodate a variety of arm spans).
This project requires 1,015 yards (929 meters) of medium, worsted weight yarn and a size K crochet hook (or size hook needed to obtain the gauge provided in the pattern). Make sure to check your gauge so that your shawl turns out the right size! The yarn I used for this shawl is called ‘I Love This Yarn’, 3 skeins in the color Sungold, but any worsted weight yarn will suffice.
Gauge: 8 dc and 5 rows equals 3” (7.6 cm). To make a quick swatch for this project, ch 10 and dc in the third ch from the hook and in every ch across, turn (8 dc). Row 1: Ch 2 (does not count as a dc), dc in every stitch across (8 dc). Repeat Row 1 for 5 total rows. You should have a square that measures 3” x 3” (7.6 x 7.6 cm). If your square is too big, use a smaller hook and check again. If your square is too small, use a bigger hook and check again. Do not worry about a measurement that is a few mm off, but if it is 1⁄2” or more off, you will need to change your hook size for your shawl to turn out the correct size.
