This pattern will make a three pumpkin set if you crochet to gauge.

I based this pattern off of Rebecca Langford’s “Little Rustic Pumpkin” pattern. I was trying to make it simpler for new crocheters. I didn’t have an exact pattern when I made this, but here is what I did to the best of my memory. I am not a pattern writer, but feel free to message me with any questions and I will try to help.

Materials needed:
4.0 mm hook or hook needed to obtain gauge
yarn needle
small river stones, beans, or light beanbag
stuffing
floral wire (brown wrapped)
cinnamon stick x 3
pen, dowel, or marker

Stitches used:
CH, SC in 3rd loop, HDC in 3rd loop, SLST, HDC decrease, HDC

Leaving a 6” tail, CH (18 for small, 23 for medium, 28 for large)

*all HDC’s are in the 3rd loop - all SC are regular SC’s*

SC in the 2nd loop from the hook, HDC across until the last stitch, SC in the last stitch, CH1, turn.

Repeat until you have 42 rows (for shorter, fatter pumpkins) or 36 rows for taller, slimmer pumpkins. You should end so that your original 6” tail and your working tail are on the same edge of the piece.

SC your starting CH and your last row together to form a tube. The SC will look bulky, but we are turning the piece inside out before stuffing and it won’t be seen.

Turn piece so that your original 6” tail is on the bottom and work SC’s around the top edge of your piece. Join to first SC with a SLST.

*HDC decrease stitches are regular stitches, NOT in 3rd loop.*

CH1, HDC decrease in each SC around (end with a HDC if you have a leftover SC). Join to first HDC decrease with a SLST.
Repeat once.

Leaving a 6” tail for sewing, cut yarn and use your yarn needle to weave around the circle that was created by the HDC decreases. Cinch yarn tight and fasten off. Turn piece inside out.

Place a small amount of smooth river stones, beans or a small beanbag in the base of the pumpkin to weigh it down. Stuff pumpkin to desired shape. Using the original 6” tail, use your yarn needle to weave around the top of the pumpkin and cinch yarn tight (leaving a hole just smaller than a cinnamon stick) and fasten off. Tuck loose end inside pumpkin.

Take your floral wire and cut off an 18” piece. Using your yarn needle tack down the floral wire in 3 places around the circle left for the cinnamon stick. Tuck your cinnamon stick into the center so that it is at a height that you like. Wrap the left side and the right side of the floral wire around the cinnamon stick three times each … right side, left side, right side, left side … to hold the cinnamon stick into place forming the base of the stem.

Using a pen, dowel or marker, wrap the floral wire in a spiral around the pen and slip the pen out of the spiral. This will form curlicue vines. Make them as tight or as loose as you’d like and arrange so that it hangs naturally.

Best of luck!
