The Putney Sweater is a simple seamless sweater which is knit top-down and mainly in the round. It is designed to be worn with 4-6 inches / 10-15 cm of positive ease at the bust, with relaxed dropped shoulders for a casual look.
Instructions are provided for full-length tapered sleeves and for bracelet-length bishop sleeves; there is also the option to add a frill detail. The sweater can be knit to high hip length without waist shaping, or slightly cropped with waist shaping. Due to these variations the pattern could be used to create multiple different garments for your wardrobe that can be dressed up or down.
Putney can be knit using any DK weight yarn or in a combination of yarns that achieve gauge, such as fingering weight merino held with lace-weight suri alpaca. It is a very simple sweater to knit, suitable for those at the beginning of their knitting journey and perfect as a first garment project.

Choose a finished sweater size that is approximately 4-6 inches/10-15 cm larger than your bust circumference.
