The vest is worked top down. The upper back is worked flat to the underarms. Stitches for the fronts are then picked up from the shoulders, and each front is worked separately while shaping the V-neck. The fronts are joined and worked flat to the underarms.

At the underarms, stitches are cast on and the front and back are joined to work in the round. The body is worked in the round to the hem, with lower-body increases. A textured stripe runs along each side from the underarm to the hem and continues into the ribbing. The hem ribbing is worked flat to create side slits.

Stitches for the V-neck and armhole ribbing are picked up along the edges using a circular needle 0.5 mm smaller than the needle used to obtain gauge.

The vest features four stripes of equal height worked in two colors. The same color used for the lowest stripe and hem ribbing is also used for the V-neck and armhole ribbing.
