Quite Squishy is the perfect “first brioche” project. Working brioche in the round makes it simpler to understand, and easier to practice. This pattern gives instructions for fingering, sport/dk, worsted and chunky weight yarn.

This pattern is like a mini-class in brioche, and includes detailed video tutorials. The videos show brioche for both continental and European style knitters.

Brioche produces extremely stretchy fabric. Select a hat size that is 4-6” smaller than your head circumference to ensure a good fit. Work with wool or wool blends that “stick” - this is not the hat for cotton, linen, or silk yarns. Knit with needles that will give you a dense, textured fabric that doesn’t sag. If there are gaps between stitches, go down a needle size.

Many thanks to Nancy Marchant for her work in the development of the brioche stitch.

Pattern has been tech edited and tested. Video tutorials are also included.
