Sometimes everything is dark and the storm seems never ending, and the only option is to make your own rainbow. Pick your favorite skein of yarn, pair it with a fun and easy stitch pattern, and create a little bit of happiness.

The Rainbow Days Shawl is straightforward and mindless, with just enough lace to provide the perfect distraction from the ongoing storm. It uses only double crochet and chain stitches, making it accessible even to newer crocheters.

Sample
Sample used Apple Tree Knits Plush Fingering, 560yds/113g in Troll Hair

Yarn, Yardage, and Colors
The sample used one skein of 560yds/113g, but the pattern is easily adjustable. It’s specifically designed to work with a gradient - it can end on any row so you can use up every scrap of yarn. It plays well with semi solids and tonals, but variegated yarns may obscure the pattern.

The sample used fingering weight, but the pattern works well in any weight from lace to aran.

Skills Required
ch, dc, counting rows, counting sts, working into the ch-spaces, working flat, skipping sts

Construction
The shawl is worked side-to-side to form an asymmetrical triangle. It starts at the small end and is worked in one piece without any seaming.

Modifications and Adjustments
Notes are included for adjusting the following: working more/fewer repeats; working more/fewer dc rows between each lace row; larger/smaller teeth; adding teeth after any row; working the shawl with a smooth edge

Overview of the Finished Object
The Rainbow Days Shawl is a boomerang/asymmetrical triangle shape. It starts with a long skinny end and slowly grows. The top edge is slightly curved, the last row forms a straight edge. The bottom of the shawl has teeth.

The body of the shawl alternates solid sections with eyelet rows.
