About the Pattern:

  • Any weight yarn and any size needles can be used
  • The pattern has been written to use as much of your chosen yarn as possible.
  • The pattern contains detailed information on the construction of a wrap to match the sample, but also contains a recipe for customization, with several different stitch pattern repeats available.

Yarn:

  • Approximately 600 yd. bulky weight yarn (any weight yarn will work; amount needed will vary depending upon yarn chosen)
  • Sample used 6 full skeins (106 yd ea.) of 100% superwash merino bulky weight from Bad Sheep Yarn in Rainbows and Airwaves colorway

Gauge and Size:

  • Gauge is irrelevant for this pattern.
  • Pattern can be worked with any weight yarn and any appropriate needle size.
  • Finished size of sample: 36” (91 cm) from neck to bottom point of triangle; 72” (183 cm) wingspan

Needles & Notions:

  • 8 mm (size 11 US) or 9 mm (size 13 US) circular needle at least 40” (91cm) long for bulky yarn (piece is knitted flat)
  • Use a needle size that is comfortable and results in a fabric density you prefer
  • If using a different weight of yarn, use an appropriate-sized needle for that yarn
  • Set of straight needles in size chosen for wrap (for adding the hood)
  • 4 stitch markers
  • Yarn needle
  • 6 mm crochet hook (for attaching fringe and for optional hood edging; If using a different weight yarn, adjust crochet hook size accordingly by using a hook approximately 2 mm smaller than the needles used to create the hood)
