Description:
The Raindrop Shawlette is designed to use one full 100 gram skein of gorgeous hand dyed yarn in sport or DK weight for the body, plus a little bit of fluffy lace mohair or a mini skein of sock yarn as an accent border color.
The open stitch pattern creates a delicate, lacy texture. This gives the fabric a breathable, slightly drapey quality. As a result, it gives you a refined yet cozy accessory that feels light on the skin but still provides warmth, ideal for transitional seasons or cool evenings.
The shawlette has a triangular shape and works from the bottom tip, gradually expanding toward the neck edge. The border is made after the body is finished.
The body works in a main color; it can be variegated (but avoid self-striping), tonal, or solid color. The border works in 2nd color, which can be contrasting or similar in tone to the main color. Check the blog post for more details on choosing yarn and colors.

Skills:
Basic crochet stitches (ch, sc, dc, tr), making a few sts in the same space, like shell stitch, special spike stitch works like sc but in a different spot from usual sc.

Materials:
Yarn: MC: 330 yds (300 m) of sport or DK weight merino yarn
CC: 110 yds (100 m) of lace mohair (used double stranded) or 55 yds (50 m) of fingering weight merino yarn.

MC: 1 skein of Malabrigo Arroyo, 100% Merino, 334 yds (305 m)/3.5 oz (100 g), color 230 Sea Horse;
CC: 1 skein of Malabrigo Mohair, 72% Mohair, 28% Silk, 229 yds (209 m)/0.88 oz (25 g), color 363 Pascal.
Hook: size US H (5mm)
Notions: tapestry needle, scissors, blocking mat & pins (or combs)

Gauge:
22 sts x 12 rows = 4x4” (10x10 cm) in Open Arches stitch pattern, blocked.
Gauge in pattern repeats: 3 rep (3x8=24 sts) in width = 4.4 in (11 cm); 3 rep (3x4=12 rows) in height = 4 in (10 cm).
The exact gauge is not crucial, but a different gauge will affect finished measurements and yarn usage.
