This is a written crochet pattern for the “Rainy Day Goose”- an amigurumi sitting plushie goose, with a removable rain hat and jacket.

This pattern is suitable for crocheters that are already familiar with amigurumi and basic crochet stitches/techniques (e.g MR, sc, hdc, dc, inc, dec, FLO, BLO etc). One speciality stitch is used (loop stitch), however a detailed tutorial with images explains how to complete this.

All pieces are worked in continuous rounds, with the exception of the rain jacket which is worked flat in rows.

Materials & Tools Required:

Yarn:
• Colours white, yellow and orange. All in (roughly) the same yarn weight category.
• I used:
o KnitCraft Tiny Chenille Off-White DK yarn (100% polyester)
o KnitCraft Cotton Blend Plain Yellow DK yarn (50% cotton, 50% acrylic)
o KnitCraft Tiny Friends Tangerine DK yarn (50% cotton, 50% acrylic)

Crochet Hook:
• You should chose a hook size based on your yarn’s weight. For amigurumi, you should typically choose a hook a little bit smaller than recommended on the yarn label to prevent stuffing from showing through your finished object.
• I used a 3.5mm hook throughout for my DK weight yarn.

Buttons x3:
• I used 9mm diameter clear buttons.
• If you do not have suitable store-bought buttons available, you can make substitute crochet buttons yourself by crocheting small circles. You should work (roughly) 4sc in MR then FO, leaving a long tail to sew to rain jacket.

Safety Eyes x2:
• I used black 12mm diameter safety eyes.
• You can alternatively choose to embroider eyes if you prefer, or if you are giving the goose to a young child.

Toy stuffing
Scissors
Black thread for sewing on buttons
Tapestry/finishing needle
Stitch marker (optional)

Using a 3.5mm hook and DK weight yarn (see exact details in “Materials & Tools Required”) my finished goose measured 17cm tall when sitting (not including hat).
