Randi Selbu Mittens
These mittens are knit according to the Norwegian Selbu tradition - with a modern twist on the cuff. The hand and thumb are knitted two-stranded in the round. The thumb is gusseted, and they have a “fake entrelac” cuff (which is easier to knit than it looks).
The pattern shows knitting on dpns and the technique of placing the thumb stitches on hold for the thumb hole.
Size:
Standard women’s size.
Gauge:
36 sts & 36 rows per 10 cm/ 4”. Note that the gauge does not match the suggested gauge for yarn.
Materials:
* Yarn: Rauma Finull (2 ply 100 % wool yarn with 175 metres (191 yds) per 50 grams) or the like.
MC - ~40 grams
CC - ~35 grams
- Dpns size 2,0 mm (or size needed to achieve gauge)
- Waste yarn or stitch holder for thumb stitches
- Darning needle

The pattern also contains a separate PDF with all charts right side up for use with digital trackers.
PS: Note that some rounds of this pattern have long stretches of same colour stitches, and the float has to be carried along at the back of these.
