This fitted, princess seam sweater has inset panels of an intricate braided cable at the hems of the body and sleeves. The shaping of these cable panels also shapes the decreases for the sleeves and torso of the sweater. There is also a simple braided lacing cable along the side seams. The sleeves are set-in at the shoulders for a trim fit, and the square neckline is finished with a pretty braided trim. The sweater body is knit in the round from the hem up. It is then divided for the sleeve openings, and worked back and forth to the shoulders. The sleeves are knit in the round as well, up to the sleeve cap shaping, which is worked back and forth.

Note that this sweater is shown with about 1/2-inch of negative ease. It is designed to be form-fitting. The sleeves are very snug on the forearm, so be sure to take a look at the schematic before determining what size you’d like to knit. The neckline will appear a little large/loose prior to attaching the braided I-cord trim, but will snug up a bit once the trim is applied.

When substituting yarns, look for a similar sport-weight yarn which will have a nice hand and show off some stitch definition after blocking.
