When my youngest daughter was a baby I designed and knit her first mittens for her (Rebecca’s First Mittens). She is now using those tiny, thumbless mittens for her dolls. Quite recently she asked me if I could make new mittens for her… just like the old ones. I said I’d try.

Here’s the result. I kept the “flower” motif and enlarged it, changed the background design – and, most importantly… added thumbs.

Then, one day, when I was knitting she came and asked “Mummy, are those my lemon mittens?” That’s how they got their name…

You will need fingering weight yarn in two colours – less than 15 g per colour.
