Red Berries Shawl
The Red Berries Shawl is a triangular shawl worked forth and back in one piece from the top down.
It consists of a right and left wing and a small center panel. The wings are made of alternating lace pattern and stockinette stitch and at the bottom there is a nice lace edging with small beads across all stitches.
This pattern is suitable for any gradient yarn. You get a colorful shawl with simple patterns, so that the color comes into its own and the pattern fades into the background.
It’s a pattern for beginners and very relaxing, the lace sections are very simple and fully charted.
The original yarn is Katia “Darling” in col. 204 (red - black) but it’s no longer available (I used 600 meters).
You can use any other gradient yarn or any hand-dyed yarn (fingering, sport or dk weight) or any sock yarn (4-ply and 6-ply) or any other yarn with the corresponding weight.
You will need approx. 600 – 800 meters of yarn for this shawl.
Please note: for a nice color gradient you have to unwind the next ball of yarn to the correct color position, so you also might need a little bit more yarn!
Here are three suggestions for yarn alternatives:
Viking of Norway „Nordlys“ (75 % Wool, 25 % Nylon), 350 m/100 g
Schoppel Wolle “Zauberball 100” (100 % Merino Wool; 400 m/100 g)
Lang Yarns “Jawoll Magic Degrade” (75 % Virgin Wool, 25 % Nylon; 400 m/100 g)
