I was browsing through photographs from decades ago, wading through a flood of memories. I couldn’t help but notice the beautiful motifs and colors in the red oxide floors, the mosaic tiles, the curtains and cushions, and in the sarees worn by the women in my family. Inspired by those old homes, their retro decor, and my childhood there, this shawl is a gentle echo of those cherished times.

PATTERN NOTES
♡ Retro is a 2-color, fingering weight, asymmetric shawl featuring garter stripes and mosaic slip stitch motifs.
♡ The pattern incorporates 2-stitch slip stitch edging for the mosaic stripes.
♡ Written as well as charted instructions are provided.

YARN USED IN SAMPLE
2 skeins of Miss Babs Hand-dyed Yarns Tarte Fingering, 75% Superwash Merino Wool, 15% Nylon, 10% Tencel, 500 yards / 457 m per 122g / 4.3 oz in Bougainvillea (CC) and Old Gold (MC) colorways.

YARN REQUIREMENTS
830 yards / 760 m of fingering weight yarn in 2 colors, not including tassels.

NEEDLES USED
3.5 mm / US 4 circular needles, minimum length 32”/ 80 cm.

GAUGE
20 sts and 32 rows = 4″/ 10 cm, in garter st, washed and blocked.
