Rettuvie
I grew up surrounded by the sea and the beautiful coastline of Shetland. Inspired by the area I grew up in I named this pattern after a place called The Rettuvie with a sea stack nearby called the Stack of the Rettuvie.
The blue colour reflects the sea surrounding Shetland and the purple is of the heather which grows on the hills.
The shawl was designed so that it could be knitted in both lace weight and jumper weight yarns.
If you are new to knitting lace a great place to start is by using larger needles and thicker yarn then knitting the same pattern with smaller needles and thinner yarn.
Wingspan 115cm/45in x Depth 40cm/16in – lace weight yarn
Wingspan 140cm/55in x Depth 45cm/18in – jumper weight yarn
