The Ribbed Hat and Scarf are worked into stitch posts, using small hooks and Aran yarn. This creates pieces that are warm and stretchy, but these stitches use up a lot of yarn.

You will need 400g of Aran yarn, a 5.5mm hook (hat), and a 6mm hook (scarf).

Skill: This is not a pattern for beginners – you will need to be able to do FP and BP crochet. Working in the post and increasing at the same time means that stitches can be difficult to see and count.

Size: The Ribbed Hat is a comfortable fit for a large adult. Scarf about 60” long.

Swatch for gauge
Using 1 strand of Aran yarn, and a 6mm hook, make 14 stitches wide and 9 rows of alternating Fp and Bptr, to measure 4” by 4”.
