As a born-and-raised New Yorker, I never learned to drive. As a non-driving adult living in the suburbs, I’m a constant rider. Be it by bus, train, car, or plane, I’m always a passenger, looking to occupy my hands and my free time. Knitting has always served as the perfect way to pass the miles - and the search for mindless yet interesting projects is endless. Rider is a cowl designed for just that, a quick knit that reminds us of what our hands and brains can do while our eyes are occupied on new, beautiful surroundings. This cowl was designed and knit from the passenger seat, and is the perfect road trip or travel companion.

This cowl knits up quickly in worsted weight yarn seamlessly in the round, combining ribbing with simple lace to create an object that looks complicated but is actually beginner friendly! Easily memorizable repeats make this project perfect for working on while traveling or binge-watching, and the heavier yarn means you’re likely to finish before you reach your final destination!

Rider looks beautiful on the “wrong side” too and can be worn inside out for an alternative look, or flip it upside down for another variation!

This pattern will work with a variety of yarn weights and exact gauge is not necessarily required for this project, just work in a gauge that creates a drapey fabric in blocked stockinette.

The perfect single-skein Worsted project! So quick you’re likely to finish it over the weekend.

This pattern includes written instructions and a chart, and has been fully test knitted and professionally tech edited! Small mistakes may still have slipped by us, so if you have any trouble or spot any problems please email me as soon as possible at KaceyKnits@gmail.com and include the pattern name in the subject!
